Default Catfishing Trip Suggestions

We are thinking about taking a trip over the 4th to get some good cats. I have heard that Kansas may be good, but I need some advice from the experts.

We need someplace we can set up camp (tents/fire, etc) for 4 people.

Has anyone got any good places that we could go that is within an 8 hour drive of Denver?

Big Mac or the Platte river area in North Platte, Neb. John Martin and the Ark below it.

Here is the Nebraska 2007 Fishing outlook... kind of like the Colorado Fishing Forecast.

Hate to say it......Nebraska. * Once again Sutherland Reservoir is great if they're letting water in......which they usually are til mid July. *Also, Big Mac, all the interstate ponds, and Lake Maloney are all excellent cat producers. * Sutherland can give up nice blue cats too. *The Nebraska report for Sutherland talks about it's strong channel cat population. Or....Just keep on keepin on til you get to Omaha and fish the Missouri and it's tributaries!

If you hit the inlet at Sutherland ,you'll have roomy campsites on the shores of the fish infested rushing inlet waters. Also surrounded by cottonwoods and dense trees.
