Default Koke Fishing?

I would like to start fishing for a few Kokes this year, what is a good method to catch a few. I do not have down riggers so what can I use. 90% of my gear is walleye related.

Thanks for any help.

fishing with lund has some great koke lures for sale in the buy and sell section , and you can use lead core rig to get down , wedding rings and dick nites work good

Kokes with weight or heavy gear is some kind of oxy moron. Totally defeating the purpose unless you are just meat fishing. You really need a downrigger for mid season koke fishing. End of season, there are several guys here that wade or bank for them when they start to spawn but those are non eaters, IMO.

Millions of Kokes every year are caught on lead core. Don't go buy down riggers unless your going to start trolling alot for Kokes and Lakers.

Lead core has put more Kokanee in peoples bellies than just about anything. Go find an old timer at Blue and ask him how deep he is finding fish, he'll tell you in number of colors.

LT, didn't say lead wouldn't work, use weight if you are meat fishing. Koke fishing is as much or more for sport so light tackle just makes it a lot more fun. If the "fun" isn't as big a priority, you're point on.

Use your medium weight walleye spinning or casting gear. 1oz/10 feet depth at 2mph with about 100 feet of line out, after 40 ft deep you have to start letting more line out to get to the desired depth. I prefer to add a little weight then use lead core.
