Default Want to take the kiddies ice fishing - recomendations please

No, not my kids, my 2 little brothers actually. 8 and 11. My uncle also wants to get my cousins out as well, so there may be 3 or 4 younger guys out on some hard water with me.

Any suggestions for a nice little metro lake that we can get on. Looking for more quantity then quality right now, I just want to get them into some fish and stockers excite them just as much right now. I have already been skunked by Cherry creek and Chatfield this year. So we will not be going to either of those. lol

Was thinking Monument lake maybe, or possibly Evergreen lake. Not really as Metro as I would prefer, but not sure what else is really available. Any suggestoins would be greatly appreciated.

Give Boyd, Georgetown, or Dillon a try--not quite metro Denver but pretty close. Golden Gate Park should be considered too.

If dillon is still fishing like it was about 3-4 weeks ago....go there for sure. We didn't go more than like 30 seconds without a fish...very subtle/light bites though.

If you head to Evergreen let me know, I should be able to point you to some fishier spots if not catch up with you out there. I fished it for a while with my cuz yesterday and we caught about 5 each in a hour or two. Nothing over 10" for us.

I agree with da_teacher; Georgetown is great for kids....took mine there and we cleaned up with brookies. We fished the West end as close as we could get to the inlet while still being safe. We used super dupers and kasty's in smaller sizes. The water is about 9' and we jigged about 1 foot off the bottom. I think they would have hit anything; we caught about 40 and left them all there for you.

What the average size for those G-Town fish?

I was under the impression a 15"er would be a monster out of there.
