Default PUEBLO conditions 1/18 good news, bad news

went down to the lake this morning, good news, the level is 4868.62, was 4866.83 for a gain of 1.79 feet. bad news, you can launch your boat but you can only go 100 yards. good news, we will have a lot more water to fish this year. bad news, all the places we had dialed in wont be the same this year, so it will be like a whole new lake. thats all the good news, the rest is all bad. i am sure that by now most of you have heard about the zebra mussels found in pueblo, but have you really thought about the impact of it. now that we have them they will spread into the whole arkansas drainage. both down stream and up stream. washing everything down will help but it wont stop the spread, say you wash the hull and motor and trailor every time you use it, do you lift your boat up and wash the bunks that have carpet, i think not, the next time you go to 11 mile you have released the little critters into the south platte, and how about all the fly fishers who like to fish the tail waters all winter, do you wash all your wading gear every time you fish, like you are supposed to to prevent the spread of whirling disease, pueblo is a WD positave lake, now you have two critters to take up to the dream stream with you. i dont know how long the zebra mussel can live out of water, but i do know that the WD spores can live for 30 years in dry mud. now for more bad news, both marinas are locked up with ice, but at this time it isn't very thick, if we can git some wind after this cold spell it might break it up fairly quick. i will make a post next week but will miss the week after, asi will be on the way back from GA. with a stop off at lake texoma for a guided striper trip on the 2nd of feb. we should have a report and some pics for you when we git back.

Thanks for the Report WS....Those little buggers suck....I'm sure looking forward to the high water levels..I remember a lot of great places to fish as I'm sure you do also....It should be great for the Crappie and Bass spawns ..

Enjoy you trip and nail a big striper or too....Can't wait to see some pics.. Remember, I said striper ... Not stipper...

Hey Walleye Seeker, we met last summer. Questions about those mussels.

News has stated that could cause trouble with with boat moters. I have a really great I/O. Is just washing the boat enough, or when I come home. Should I put the muffs on and flush the engine out. Or what you recommend. Thanks
