Default pueblo conditions 1/25

well i hate to say it, but i haven't been to the lake in a week, so some of this is what i have heard from others. the lake level this week is 4869.41 and was 4868.62 last week for a gain of .79 feet. this is the first time since the 15th of nov that we have had less than a foot of increase. i feel that it is the very cold weather that has slowed down the flow, as well as the out flow has been increased. also the upper end of the lake is spreading over many more acres. the ice is still a factor in not gitting out, but the wind and cold have also been a major factor. the only fishing reports i have heard are shore fishing from the north side and no bites were detected for about 5 hours of fishing.there will not be a report next friday as i will be with ear plug, returning from GA. to Texas, where we will be fishing on texoma for stripers. the guides say they are catching limits of 5 to 10 lb fish with a 15 possable.

don't forget that Feb 2nd is eagle day at lake pueblo state park, they have a good program and the birds have been showing up, so you do have a good chance of gitting some great photos. so pack up the wife and kids and come on down.

I was just reading the regs again and it looks like you can spear fish through March 14th. If you really want some action - you can cut a hole though the ice and jump in!

Good luck on your trip and have fun!

Hard to spear fish when the fish are down 35-70'

Thats why you have to jump in. You have to get deeper where the fish are.

i went out today and the marinas have ice . no way to get out from ramps, there is some open water for shore fishing . but with water up there are alot of snags. water temps around 36 . waters about 6-8 ft from highest mark on dam , and looks like the flow on river is down. byon and mike have a good trip and have fun. you and mike will have to post about the big ones you catch in texas .
