Default Has anyone used power pro braid on a baitcaster? Setting up frog rod.

Has anyone used power pro braid on a baitcaster? I am going to do some frog fishing this spring in some real krap. Thinking about using 50 lb power pro. Any input?

It works great! Give the P-line Spectrex a look too!

I have it on my Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6600 CB, but it is only used for trolling.

I use 15# PowerPro on baitcasters, but fill the spool half full of cheap mono first. The mono acts as a backing, but also keeps the braided from slipping on the spool in cold weather. It's a real helpless feeling when you're reeling hard, but the line just keeps going out!

you only need a little backing, say 15 yards or so, just enough to cover the spool!

I use either 20 or 30 lb PowerPro on some of my baitcasters. But beware! The backlashes are much harder to get out than with mono.

I just use a little electrical tape as backing...works like a charm on my cat poles, never any backlash, but then again Im throwing baits the size of cornish game hens
