Default Antero on the News!

Haven't been to Antero and wanted to go this weekend. They had a story about Antero on the News about too much ice and snow and light not being able to make it through to the bottom, thus causing low oxygen levels and possible winter kill??

Can anyone shed some light (no pun intended) on this subject on whether it would be worth it to head up there? Has anyone hit the lake in last 3-4 days? I am thinking the fish would be too lathargic if the oxygen levels are very low.

Also thinking about Gross hitting Gross, does anyone have any suggestions?
This is my first post, hope it works.

they say if you fish there you should keep your two no matter what size to get some of the fish out of there because of the oxygen levels. I here the fishing was real slow for the big ones because of the oxygen levels.

my understanding as that the highest concentrations of dissolved O2 are closest to the surface, so i'd say don't fish off the bottom!

I fished it last weekend and I would say it is still worth a try. We caught 6 in a day and a half of fishing. With the bigges being 20" I would recommend fishing away from the crowds and 2-3 feet under the ice. The best areas had the least scuds.

Thanks for the info fellas, I can't believe those pics of the dead scuds. Good pics.
I am glad they identified what was going on and hopefully saved the lake
in time. Great fishery.

Antero has traditionally always had Oxygen problems, but it usually occured late in the season. Those pictures of the scuds are amazing. I've never seen them so thick.

There was a video on the news last night of the DOW plowing Antero. I am not sure how much of the lake was plowed but I sure hope that it was enough.

I want to know where are all the people crying and conducting polls about how it was being over fished and there wasn't going to be any big ones left. Also I remember when I talked about winter kill there, there was a smart guy that said that never really happens........
