Default Fishing Tip of the Day 2/8 and weekend 2/9-2/10

2/8
-------------------
When using braided line such as Spider Wire, attach a 10 foot piece of monofilament line to the braided line before you spool it onto your reel. The mono will provide a nonslip surface so that the braided line will adhere to your reel spool.

2/9-2/10
-------------------
The first cast into any fishing area is the most important. The fish are most likely to bite then because other casts have not spooked them and they are seeing your bait for the first time.

Have a great weekend everyone. Be safe out on that ice!

first time i tried braid i didn't back it with mono. i hooked my first fish and he ran off with my whole spool of line. i ended up bringing him in by hand and was left with a pile of tangled line. little bass took out most of my spool before i even figured out what was going on.

I use a small strip of athletic type tape to keep the superlines from spinning on the reel.

I haven't tried it yet. And have been thinking about it. Thanks for the tip.

well Im glad to see others actually do this. I dont normally fish braid, but I was going to try a pole with braid this year. I would have made this same mistake if it wasn't for the tip.

Im glad I got to learn this lesson before a fish had to teach me.
