Default lights to fish by

well i was watching crappie wisdom
by in-fisherman
and it was showing how to light a boat to attract
the bait fish to the boat so that the crappie will come out

and i was wondering if any one here has done it
here in colorado

was thinking of maybe doing it this spring for the crappie out at
neegronda but with out the boat just staking a few lights out on the
water and fishing them from shore

I haven't done it in Colorado, but we used to do it all the time in Missouri. We'd tie off to the trees and hang a couple of lanturns over the side of the boat. The light brought in bugs, which brought in minnows, which brought in the crappies. Nee Grande with the submerged trees might be a good bet.

Yeah, I used to catch wiper just outside of the lights in the North Marina at Pueblo where the Ranger shack is floating...The shad were brought in by the lights that lit up the shack and the wiper would pick them off by hiding just off in the shadows and busting the shad in the lights.

I used to tie a flash light to my anchor and fish Union in the channel. It would attract carp but hey we would still catch them

then fish most of the night trying for crappie or wiper with
the lights

sounds good, i sure want to get back down that a way

i have a couple of the frabil floating lights, one of them i took the lamp out of the foam and picked up a monster off road driving light and put that back in the foam. its just a wee bit brighter than the other.
i got a float tube we can put a battery in and hang the lights off the side. i think i will bring the canoe to drag the tube out with. swimming to retrieve that trot line last time was a wee bit chilly.

might be fun to set the lights, set a trot line and then chase jugs all night in the canoe
