Default Bad news for the entire ARK drainage

http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=86375

Commissioners say an uncontrolled blowout could kill more than 100 Leadville residents and contaminate the Arkansas River from Leadville to the Mississippi River.

Pretty scary stuff!

This is a very scary and critical situation. Nothing is being done. We can expect disaster in for sure. No question.

I think all the fish dying would be the least of our concerns!!!

gotta agree with you atown... The fishing is the least of our concerns. That river feeds into every major water supply in the state. There is probably a way to purify the water, but it will only add to CO's water problem. (and please dont jump all over me cause I still think CO has a water problem).....

One of the things that piss me off about this state, is the way the laws are written they cannot hold the mining company responsible for any of this.

It would seem to me that some enterprising soul could stand to make a lot of money by purifying that water, pumping it and selling it, if the government would give them the water rights to do so...1 billion gallons of water is more than 3 million acre feet of water..That's a lot of water...About 9 Pueblo reservoirs worth.

Wow that is a crazy amount of water!

On the bright side we wouldn't have to worry about those zebra mussels.
