Default Adobe Creek (Blue Lake)

I am planning on an overnight fishing trip to Adobe Creek this weekend. How safe is the lake for tent camping? I have heard that the winds are extremely punishing and that there is no cover i.e. trees. Any info is appreciated.

Never been to Blue Lake but have tent camped at Nee Grande and the thunderstorms in the middle of the night are truly a spectacle.

when we drove by a few months back it didnt look that bad of a place to camp

and no big trees but alot of tamaracks that could help block the wind if you get lucky and set up on the right side of them

and i will be camping out at neegronde and my truck will be the wind break

I've camped out at one of those lakes during a thunderstorm years ago in a tent. Had to yell at my buddy right next to me for him to hear me. Good thing we had about 600 lbs between the three of us.

Blue lake is not a very pleasant place to camp with a tent. I've had days where the wind is just brutal and the tent almost flew away. Also there is no shade if it gets really hot out.

If it is just the guys you might be able to get away with it, but if you take the family I would camp at John Martin under lake hasty and make the drive to blue lake to fish. Much better facilities.

Yep...It can get very windy and stay windy for days on end....Not pulling your leg..Do you have a boat Yak...Blue is best fished from a boat...A toon and a belly boat is a loooong haul to the Northwest side of the lake...

I'd suggest Nee Grande or John Martin...Nee Grande is easy to fish from a tube or by wading..

Sorry so late in a reply! Blue Lake has water and the fishery is still good after all the years of drought. I haven't been down there for a couple of months, ben so busy with school. But I do have a home/ranch in Ordway and have alot of family and friends in the area as well. If you need any assistance during your stay down there, let me know, as this being the big camping weekend, things will be scarce. I might be able to help.
