Default Help me decide where to go fishing on my vacation........

So I'm about to get my first long awaited paid vacation ever! I have no definite plans but would love to head to the mountains and do some fishing somewhere. I know, pretty vague. My vacation begins next week and extends for two weeks. I think I skip the memorial weekend madness and head out somewhere on Tuesday. I would really like to do some river fishing. Are there any places where the runoff won't be too intense? I'm willing to drive up to 3 to 4 hours and I'm located in South Denver. I will most likely be by myself so I'm not sure that long hikes would be smart. I wouldn't mind a mountain lake either and I've got a belly boat. My first thought was Delany Buttes and maybe hitting North Gate canyon. All I have are breathable waders so the water may be a bit cold. OK I know this is long winded and most have probably stopped reading long ago. For you all that haven't, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

From what I hear, runoff is now in full swing, so moving water will be a problem unless you fish tailwaters.

Places like the Delaneys, Lake John, Stagecoach, Williams Fork and the Red Feather Lakes should be prime, though. Breathable waders are fine in cold water, just wear a pair of heavy fleece pants underneath along with good warm sox.

If I had two weeks off...............with total freedom...........I'd head to Navajo for at least 4 days. Then I'd hit the San Juan below the dam. Then I'd meander up toward Montrose hitting good looking fishin along the way. After that.............fish my way to Blue Mesa to get a laker or two. On the way home I'd fish Cheeseman canyon and the reservoir.
