Default Need some help for perch fishing

Well, I know I have found a decent spot for perch... Now, problem is hooking them. I've gone down to using a very small 1" tube jig and still can't get hook sets with that small of a hook, I get constant hits on the line, but can never get the fish... anyone have some suggestions for me to try?

use grubs or pieces of nightcrawlers. and use a hook of a bigger size.

they are nippy with the way they bite. usually I follow a system of waiting until they pull the bobber down twice until I set the hook.

Forgot to mention.... It's artificial lures only... I could only wish it was bait. Also, I've tried a 3 inch tube on a bigger hook and got absolutely nothing on that. 6 hours, 100's of hits, 0 fish.

perch being the nibblers that they are will fool you. usually I hesitate when I use lures for perch, when they first bite... so they can inhale the lure. then I set the hook.... perhaps waiting a second or 2 after the first real bite?

Are you sure they're not crawdads biting?

Gonefishing,
Are you fishing from a boat or from shore?

Search this section of the forum for "perch tactics". I got some good info in that thread from people.
