I need a new medium rod/reel because my old cheap one is pretty much done. I want to spend some more money on this one so it will last. I've been kinda putting money aside just for this purpose and now I think I'm ready to get my new rod/reel.
Here are the reels I'm looking at:
Shimano Saros F- I've always like Shimanos and I thought this one would be a nice one.
Pfluger Supreme- Looks like a great reel and I'm sure it is. Pfluger makes good stuff.
Team Daiwa TD-Pro- I've always liked Daiwa reels as well.
I think right now the one I'll probably get is the Saros.
As for Rods, here are those:
St. Croix Premier- I have the ice fish Premier series and I love it. I know St. Croix makes great rods. I'd go for the 7' Med. 2 piece rod (PS70MF2)
Bass Pro Shops Extreme XPS- I have a BPS Bionic Blade which is a great rod. This is similar. I'd go with the 7' Med. 2 piece here as well. (XTR70MS-2 2-PIECE). BPS has a combo for cheaper that has the Saros and this rod but I don't know if they have the 7' M 2 Piece in that combo.
St. Croix Triumph 4 Piece- I'm think I want a 7' rod but if I went 6'6" this would be a cool rod. Again I go with the medium.
St. Croix Avid- If I wanted to drop the extra $80.00 I'd go with this rod. I know these are awesome rods. I'd go with the 7' Med. 2 Piece. (AVS70MF2 2-PIECE)
There are also two All Star Rods that I was looking at but they only come in 1 piece. I might like an All Star rod but I think I'd rather have a 2+ piece rod. Here are those rods.
All Star GT40X- Looks like a good rod. Again about the 1 piece though. Also this one's only 6'6"
All Star Team All Star- Looks good, 1 piece. I'd go with the 7' Med.
This last thing I'm wondering about is, if I go with the Saros, what would be the best model to get? I'm thinking either the 3000 or the 2500 would work best with a 7' Medium rod. What do you think? And which of those should I get? The 3000 or the 2500?
