Default Confidence

I understand that cionfidence plays a role in how many fish you catch, but how big of role do you guys think it plays?

What got me thinking about this is my lack of catching ability on x-raps. These lures have a good following on the forum, but for the life of me I can't find a fish with one. I've tried everything. How do you guys build confidence in a lure?

I do have a go to lure, but not one that I'm 100% confident in......Except tube jigs for bass at Cheeseman

Confidence is huge IMO. The subconsious (butchered spelling?) stuff that you do makes a very big difference.

I think I have just discovered my main flaw when fishing. I have no confidence in anything when fishing)!!!

Guess I better change my ways. No lures ever seem to work consistantly for me.

Course I have never really had anyone show me the right way to use certain lures. I just buy what i hear or think works good. Then I use it in a variety of techniques that seem like they would work. I also read into techniques and stuff but can never impliment them with any success.

I have caught way more fish on baits than anything else!

I think the best thing you can do in a situation like that is to go fish with someoone who is an expert with that bait and get them to explain and show you exactly how they fish it, and why.

And with X-Raps and Rogues, personally I fish them differently ar different times of the year. So don't be afraid to experiment.

I agree that confidence is a HUGE factor when catching fish. However, if you aren't fishing where the fish are, all the confidence in the world isn't going to catch anything. In other words, get to know the water you are fishing first and then use a lure/bait you have confidence in.

Confidence is Paramount!

If there is even an inkling of skunk feel in your mind you will most likely be skunked.

One thing I like to do while fishing:
When I get a bite I casually tell myself "thats cooo. wont be the last bite of the day. Good times-keep on keepin on *whistles*" -you know, something like that.
If you pressure youreself, its just as bad as the idea of the skunk creeping into your mind IMO.

If you plan, research and gear up as best you can, it totaly helps the "get the job done" mindset and boosts you happies.
