Default Sucker fish Zebra muscles?

Whats up with the dow? Now they banned live sucker sells? I just got back from outlaws and received this info. The dow thinks this is how the muscles are getting around. I'm not sure about you guys but I like a fresh cut of meat when I'm laker fishing. Those frozen old suckers just don't perform the same as a fresh one. Laker fishing just isn't the same with out them.

Why don't you just go catch your own?

For laker fishing, one thing you can do is buy live shiners the night before, put them in a fridge in a baggy without water that night, then the next morning (when they're dead) you can take them with you and fillet one side and use it on the hook instead of the suckers.

It's a fresher alternative

Wellington has a ton of suckers, thought the reports from there seem slow. Could be a pricey skunk though.

to bad they don't carry as much oil as a sucker and get mushy so that you can't cast them from shore with out it falling off. I have used them before with minimal results.

Has anyone seen anything official from DOW on this? They are really starting to look bad.

I don't buy it. Seems like more assumptions to me. I'd like to see their data.

If you cannot obtain fresh suckers, anchovies are the best thing. I actually do better on dead anchovies for pike than I did on fresh suckers that were freshly killed.
