inlet was frozen sat.(drive by) Friend said people were fishing main lake on sat(open water)

From Where?

From Ft Collins - it is 65 miles up Hwy 14.

Yeah, I got off my lazy butt and used mapquest...it's pretty damn far from Denver!!!

wah wah wah, you guys act like it sooooo far, us up north here already, have to deal with at least that drive, (1hr from denver to fort, 1hr from fort to chambers), to get to any ski resort besides eldora, and also to get to most major reservoirs or lakes, we are lucky to have many fishing opportunities close by, but even chatfield or cherry creek is a 2 hr. drive for us. And then we get to deal with the lovely scenery of metro denver. At 1.80 a gal. for gas, two hour drives are back on the to-do list, and at least when you get up to chambers you don't have to look at tall buildings.....

Forget the drive from Denver try hiking into the place witha 150 pound sled in the middle of winter when the water is down and the roads are closed.
