i went up this weekend and the slush was 5+ inches, it was horrible. Way not worth the time because we only caught a few small lakers averaging about 12 inches long and really skiny the whole day. The road had to much snow so we had to walk in to.

There are also some excellent lakes both in the redfeathers area, and much closer to town, (less then thirty min) in wellington. Smith, wellington #4, and douglas have alll been producing this year but for numbers I would suggest either wellington 4, or if the scenic mountains are what you are after then try dowdy, west, or bel-aire up in redfeathers, they are the same legnth drive as chambers/joe wright and get much less pressure over the summer (and winter too I'm sure) the hike in to the RFL area lakes varies from pretty short and easy to pretty long and snow covered.

Shoot me a PM if you are gonna go out over the weekend near fort, I've only been out on the ice once ever, and would love to go with someone who knows what is up for a second time out, and maybe actually get into some fish....
