Default Chatfield Conditions

Looks like the strong winds yesterday has busted Chatfield wide open. I would say at least 90% of the lake is ice free as of this morning.

Saw a little ice in the north boat ramp, and some on the south end and maybe a little at Plum Creek.

I drove by there yesterday afternoon and a giant section of ice had broken away from the west end and been driven by the wind into the dam. Have no idea if the wind broke that section into smaller pieces or not? Or if it is still lodged against the dam?

Neal, I saw that yesterday as well. Late afternoon it looked like ice chunks blown up onto the rocks on the east side on the dam. It looked like those chunks were blown 20 to 30 feet way up on the rocks, at least from my vantage point from 470. The wind had pretty much gave up late. I thought it looked pretty cool though.

Ah, Chatfield. 10 minutes from my house, where I can fish for hours on end, and not catch a walleye over 17 inches to save my life, ..even when I'm lucky enough to catch those. I suck at walleye fishing in Colorado, even tho I could nail them back in ND in my younger-growing up-days. Are they different here? Nah, I suck! Too much focused on the high country these days.

Thanks on the open water report there. I drive by it almost every day, and look at it, and think.....I could be fishing there right now, and getting skunked.

Lake, sounds like you need a little "Walleye Attitude" adjustment.

Drove by at lunch today and it looked all open except for the north boat ramp cove.
