Default Best Spinning Rod for Backpacking Under $100?

I am looking to retool this season in order to fish many of the Lake Xs out there. Does anyone have any recommendations for spinning rods that are small enough to fit into a frame pack? Thank You!

I dont own one of these, but I messed around with the 6' light 4-8 and was kinda nice for a 4 piece. Its a little pricey and more than likely the eagle claw will be just as robust, but far less sesitive. The EC trail master I think runs about $40 and they have a 6' thats 4-10 so its a bit more stout. But If you think the bites will be real light and you'll have a hard time feeling them Id pay the extra dough and get the St. Croix. They run around $90.

It is hard to justify that kind of money for a backpacking rod! I have a few SCs and love them, but I was trying to find something a bit cheaper.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I use a 4'6" ugly stik ultra lite. It is a glass rod, so throw out the idea of great sensitivity or feel, but they are as tough as ultra lite can get. they are two piece rods so it breaks down to about 30", I strap it onto the side of my fram pack during wilderness elk hunts. I have fallen backwards on the pack, stepped on the rod, and smacked plenty of trees, it still holds up. If you do break the thing you are only out $15-$20.

St. Croix's Triumph 5 piece.

You can order one from Cabella's for 80 or 90 dollars (depending on size)

I have a 6'6" Shimano Compre that is a 2pc and also a Fenwick HMG 6' it also a 2pc. I am very happy with both the HMG is a little over 100 and the Compre is 99. Two very good rods

I use 2 piece rods on all my b-packing trips. Either carry them or strap 'em on. To me, a 4 or 5 piece rod is a compromise and I don't compromise when it comes to fishing!
