Ok Don well I guess no one should ever harvest a fish by your logic because it "could" grow into a monster one day. And then when it has reached it's full potential don't harvest it then either so someone else can catch it. It's not a free ride craddle to grave for the fish as many people like to eat them. Are you a vegetarian or something?
This is coming from a guy that C&R's probably 99% of fish I catch and I always release big ones, only keeping kokes and also brookies/cutties when camping. But I have no problem with people that selectively harvest a few of whatever species in big waters. There are always going to be people that keep everything they catch and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry about it.
They can't catch every big one in John Martin or any other large body of water for that matter even if there were 100 people fishing the lake all day every day and keeping everything.
And Goon, awesome find on that stocking info. That is awesome they are putting stripers in there! I going to look up growth rate on those stripers. I would guess maybe 3 years before they are worth targeting and maybe 5 years for some possible big ones? That's just a guess.
