Default IT's going down! (john martin content)

This is amazing if they take hold in the lake, which they more than likely will.

http://wildlife.state.co.us/NR/rdonl...nReservoir.pdf

look at the stocking report to see what I'm talking about.

Edit: I notice they are throwing them in alot of the lakes out east within the next 2 years. Maybe the DOW does check this board and read my inane posts.

That's an interesting find.....I know you like the idea of Blue Cats and Flatheads but I couldn't help notice the stocking of stripers the last couple of years. If those stripers take hold - that would be off the wall!

Just hope they get enough water this year to keep it going....it isn't looking good for this Spring

It won't matter. People will kill 'em at 12-15 inches and never even know (or care) what could have been....

Gotta have fishermen to clean out a lake in order for a lake to get fished out, Don....

John martin, even at it's busiest would only fill my living room with people. It's not like quincy or A-town, where it's a festival of combat fishing...

hopefully march/april will give us tons of water.

I heard that you and anthony were also known as the "drummer boys" because of your other favorite fish.

Ok Don well I guess no one should ever harvest a fish by your logic because it "could" grow into a monster one day. And then when it has reached it's full potential don't harvest it then either so someone else can catch it. It's not a free ride craddle to grave for the fish as many people like to eat them. Are you a vegetarian or something?

This is coming from a guy that C&R's probably 99% of fish I catch and I always release big ones, only keeping kokes and also brookies/cutties when camping. But I have no problem with people that selectively harvest a few of whatever species in big waters. There are always going to be people that keep everything they catch and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry about it.

They can't catch every big one in John Martin or any other large body of water for that matter even if there were 100 people fishing the lake all day every day and keeping everything.

And Goon, awesome find on that stocking info. That is awesome they are putting stripers in there! I going to look up growth rate on those stripers. I would guess maybe 3 years before they are worth targeting and maybe 5 years for some possible big ones? That's just a guess.

and Don, keep in mind that you know alot about the fisheries in eastern KS and OK... and those stripers in the rivers/lakes there are very well established.... and they have no problems breeding at all.

Curtis, j-mart has alot of structure and alot of shad in the river and lake. those stripers will not take long until they are able to destroy our fishing poles. given a good enough forage base, those things get huge quickly.

they honestly need to throw a few stripers in Cherry creek and lonetree.
