Got a question... After our great experience trolling with a guide, my wife has been looking at boats - like a little 14' tracker with a 25hp motor and we'd rig it for trolling.
I have a question about some of the downrigger rigging. Larry, our guide at 11 Mile, had a downrigger release that looks a lot different from what I've seen on the net. With his, you wrapped the line through this gadget and over a small lever. When the fish hit, it pulled on the lever and released the line. All the ones I'm seeing now look like they just squeeze the line between a couple foam buttons. Do they not make the other kind any more? The ones they're selling now look like they'd need a lot of fiddling to get them to squeeze right or let loose when you want. I seem to remember Larry saying that they're not selling the ones like his anymore and that his seemed to net more fish as you didn't have to adjust it for lures, line, etc...
Di! Ecce hora! Uxor mea me necabit! (God, look at the time! My wife will kill me!)
