Default pueblo conditions 12/17

as of last monday the water was at 4871.2, full pool is 4881 it has come up about 7.5 feet in a month. it is clearing nicely with visabality of about 6 feet. with the water on the rise you have to be on the lookout for floating logs, we saw several yesterday, none real big but big enought to ruin your day if you hit one. we didnt go very far west as i was breaking in my new lower unit and cant open it up to full throtal yet, so the only ice w found was way back in the n.marina cove. every where we went the water was 41 degrees. i am sure there is some ice on the west end, but it looks open from the bouy line to the dam

Most years by Jan the ice will get down as far as Peck-usually doesn't go any further unless we get a real cold snap.

A big wiper on ice would be a sweet pic

it is hard to tell how thick the ice is without drilling it, but i have put the front half of my 19 foot boat up on the ice and not break through. i know there have been people who have ice fished it in the coves. i dont know if they did very well. if anyone tries it remenber that the trees put out heat and the ice is much weaker around them. you wont see me out on the ice. i have fished the edge of the ice and not a bite. i also know of a person who fell through and died. it isn't worth the risk IMO

not sure how thick it was either I stepped along the edges and it was about an inch or so, I also threw some rocks hard on it and didnt break through! and the dog walked on it but she only weighs about 15lbs! but the thought crossed my mind if it gets cold enough again!
