Default A new knot I hadnt heard of...the Berkley Braid Knot...

I heard about this one this morning on Wickstrom's fishing show on the Fan 104.3 radio...I havent used it...some of the comments I saw on the internet...

This special knot has been extensively testes by the Berkley R&D staff and has proven to be one of the best for use with the new braided lines.

How to tie it...

I hadn't seen that either. Pretty simple looking knot, but looks like it would be effective - I'll have to try it.

(By the way, the song "One" was Three Dog Night rather than the Guess Who - thought you should know)

Looks sort of like a clinch knot with doubled line (a known knot) except the turns are made starting at the back and working toward the hook (or eye or whatever) instead of working outward from the eye.

Never heard of this knot, but what the heck, I'll try it because I love all kinds of knots and I'm always up for a new one...

Fair enough! At least you're honest enough to admit that. I just didn't know if you knew or not (Knot?)

Interesting. I dunno about clipping all the line, but I might give it a try just to see how it works out. I've never broken a Palomar so that's what I usually stick with, but I'm always down to try new.

.

This does not pertain to a BRAID knot, but earlier this week I was preparing some terminal tackle using 5/0 Circle Hooks and 50# monofilament line.

1 First, I wanted to use the Berkely Trilene Knot.

Problem, It rather "gobbed up" at the eye of the hook, looking ugly as hell.

2 Second, I planned to cure that ill with the Palomar Knot, which is dead reliable for sure.

Problem? 50# test mono will not double loop through the eye of that hook.

3 Third, fearing the worst, I reverted to the old Improved Clinch Knot.

NO Problem there. Knot came off looking neat and clean.

Why oh Why? I don't know. I'm not allowed to ring the bell; but I know I can trust that knot. I'll try anything that works. Its surprising though, that sometimes, it pays to look for alternate or new knots for different applications.
