Default COSTA RICA

Noticed a lack of reports lately, so I thought I'd display some Fish porn from March 12. caught 7 Sails & 2 Dodos over 2 1/2 days. Slow, but still not bad compared to the rest of the fleet. This was my first time in Quepos...I'm usually farther South or way up North. Also hooked a LARGE Black Marlin, but he unbuttoned pretty quickly, but not before putting on an awesome display of power, speed, and acrobatics and showin' me who was boss. All fish caught using my own gear (Acccurate 870 2 speed and Calstar 870 2 speed)....teasers and frozen Ballyhoo were the ticket. I took my dad and 3 of his friends down there for their first time, and everybody caught at least one

The last pic was taken at Granby on March 10th...went from 10 degrees to 90 in pretty quickly.

Nice fish! Looks like an awesome trip.
Man that makes me want to get on some salty water again!
Haven't been to Costa Rica but sure would like to get down there for some bruiser rooster's on light tackle.
Done in it in Baja a few times, I highly recommend it if you haven't done it.
Med heavy bass rod a 2500 or 3000 spinning reel and a 30 pound rooster= sore arm, lots of sweat and a reel you could fry an egg on

Thanks guys...they sure were fun to catch on semi-light tackle ( BTW it was a Calstar 760 Rod) I go there pretty regularly and have made some friends in different areas on the pacific side. I've learned a few tricks and met some good captains, so I've been pretty lucky in that regard and don't have to pay out the ear. Girlfriend's Aunt runs a hotel in Puerta Jimenez, and the in-shore stuff is pretty good there. That was the only time I found the Roosters...no bruisers but still a hell of ride on Spinning gear. Tight lines fellas....if ya ever need a recommendation for CR, hit me up; I'm pretty familiar with the West side of the country.

Very cool tico report. I'm headed down there with 13 students a week from tomorrow (I'm a Spanish teacher), can't wait! I won't be doing any fishing unless the guide lets me try on Lake Arenal (heard they have peacock bass). Pura Vida, hermano!

Right on Idependiente...Arenal is an awesome place to visit. Never tried fresh water fishing CR but would love to try. I'm an English teacher...and can't imagine taking students down there, but I have seen large groups of students participating in intensive Spanish classes that only last a few weeks. Have a great trip...Pura Vida
