Default Hundreds Of Dead Trophy Lake Trout

Here is an example of what the CDOW will kill hundreds of this fall and spring based on false science:

Heres a dead one for ya. This was caught during my time when I was riled up about the CDOW wanting them dead and I thought I could make a difference. I killed it because it was 2lbs larger then the state record at the time. Never made the book though. long story. But this laker was full of whirling deased raindows that were dumped into blue mesa in efforts to clean out the durango and roaring judy hatcheries. back then when the net projects were done and the fecal studies were done, Pat Martinez claimed that ALL the fish found in fecal samples were kokanne. He made graphs and charts to show how many kokanne were being killed by lakers. His data was innacurate and wrong. In one of the roundtable meetings he admited that once a fish was past a certian state in the digestive process you can not distinquish between a rainbow and a koke because they are both salmonids. Yet in his graphs and charts he assumed that ALL the fish he found in the lakers guts were kokanne.

Pat Martinez always made assumptions, and his philosophy is "KILL THEM ALL ESPECIALLY THE BIG ONES"! It's tragic that he was ever allowed to do this. He recently retired but he influenced an entire generation of biased biologists.

Didn't say that. However I have read their studies and spent enough time on the water to know A LOT about fisheries, as well as one year of biology in college. No doubt too many small lake trout exist in blue mesa, and no doubt there is a koke decline. But tens of thousands of lost fish per year can be accounted for in the overharvest and blatant koke poaching that goes on. Dozens of people will tell you that.
We in America are smart enough to know what we want and how it should be, and we don't need a bunch of elitists in academia to decide everything for us. They think they are better than us.
