Default What kind of fish?

Went fishing afterwork today in some warm water ponds by my work and caught a fish that was bass like but was silver with brownish-green pinstripes horizontally along its body. My first thought was maybe a hybrid bass but Im not sure. Any ideas? I dont think it was a crappie due to the pinstripes.........it hit a husky-jerk cast along the shore....

Thanks,

Pondfisher

Sounds like maybe a white bass or a wiper.

The fish was only about 6-7 inches long.....I didnt take my camera. I caught one just like it in the same water a few days ago in the same pond. It had the bass/sunfishlike mouth but the coloring was way different from anything Ive caught in the past. Next time I head out Ill take my camera. These fish are the only action ive seen coming out of this pond...no bluegill or bass...just these whiteish bass-like fish with horizontal lines...no green whatsoever....

Whitebass or wiper? Are those usually found in small ponds?

Here's a pic of a white bass. Wiper are very similar but are hybrids so they would have to be stocked at some point.

My guess would be white bass or maybe even an exotic aquarium species. I have caught a couple of these in various places where they were not listed in the species callout of that lake. Hope the picture helps identify or eliminate one possibility.
