Think of the implications of almost doubling the size!!

More trout stocked would mean more fish running up the inlet during the spawn?

More stocked walleye, would mean more eggs collected each spring?

Will they leave alot of standing timber and vegetation? And what kind of effect will that have on the bass and panfish populations there?

Sounds interesting - adding 12 feet to the water level may eliminate the ponds (they'd be under water) and add a lot of structure to the lake (those gravel ponds under open water would make a hell of a spawning ground). I think it would also really improve the fishing conditions in a lot of different spots around the lake for smallies, crappie, etc.

My only concern would be that because of the new depth, I'm hoping the slow area won't disappear. If it does, that opens it up to a lot more area for fast water sports and takes away a lot of area for those that just want to relax in peace.

hope it works out! I imagine it (the river below the dam) would be a pretty decent walleye fishery if the water stayed high enough.

yeah but I remember a lot of people on the forum were fishin what I THINK was this spot last year and catchin some nice walleye. So the goal may be to provide nice trout fishing but nice walleye fishing may also be a result. Just a guess and I may be wrong.

If they are going to be flushing that much water thru the gates every year, you can bet there will always be walleye in the river.
