Default returned from Mississippi and Texas

after having major surgery and needing to recover away from the cold and ice we went to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and then to Texas. we fished just about every fishing pier along hwy 90 and and then in several bayous. while we did not catch anything the Gulf showed no signs of Oil Spill, there was still visible damage from hurricane. the Casino's were great and actually paid off more often then not. here are a few pics of the area and possibly the reason we did not catch anything.http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/4...shing24.th.jpg
after spending about a month we moved on to Texas. we fished Lake Kirby and Lake Fort Phantom Hill. both lakes were trashed i can not believe the people of Texas care so little for their wild areas. Sunshine caught a nice bass (see Pic) http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/5...shing22.th.jpg
and had what we believe was an alligator gar on at Lake Fort Phantom Hill . Does anyone know why this bass was so skinny and so white in color. well back in the cold still recovering but doing well.

Wish I had known about your trip-I could have turned you on to some really great lakes in that area of Texas.

If a bass spends alot of time in deeper water which many do this time of year they get that milky white color. Also if the water is murky they don't get the vivid coloring. Bass does seem skinny, that lake doesn't have a good forage base.

I fished Fort Phantom Hill a long time ago. If your ever back that way, PM me, there are some Abilene area lakes that fish way better than Phantom.

According to the travel magazines Texas and N. Carolina are our two most trashed states.

As a recovering Texan, I can assure you that Texas runs third behind Russia and China for blatant disregard of the environment. Go spend some time in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area... ahh, the sweet smell of progress.

But I do miss the bass fishing.

Its easy to knock TX but they have the best overall bass fishing in the US (for largemouth).

CA and FL don't even come close on the number of DD fish caught.

No stupid boat inspections either.

I'm a big fan of Texasfishingforum and like to see all the bigguns the guys down south are catching but I will say the guys on that site give the vibe that if your a yankee well your beneath a Texan. The Bass fishing section is just that, all about bass fishin but I like to browse the off topic section and there is always some Texas dick measuring contest compared to the rest of the country going on. Texas is the best, Texas is the coolest,Texans are more friendly than all other states, Texans are the toughest, Texans work the hardest, Texans are the best bass fisherman, Texas secede from the union, if your a Yankee moving to Texas leave your Yankee ways behind or don't move here, Texas women are hotter than the rest of the country, Texas BBQ is better than all others and all kinds of other bullsh_t and these threads pop up all the the time and they make me laugh, I guess Texans are a proud people which is cool but chill on that Texas and Texans are better than all ish. I really don't give a flyin f_ck if your from Texas or where ever, if your a good person that's all that matters to me not where your from.

Texas for sure has some sick lakes and could be considered bass mecca and I would love to hit up some of the lakes down there, East TX looks beautiful and Caddo lake looks like heaven to me(one place I would love to hit up.

Some one needs to man up and go to that private lake Camelot Bell where that dude just caught a 15 and another dude caught two 13's in one day and throw some Hudds. Do it for the greater good of the bass fishing community.

GM,

The really hot lake in TX right now is Falcon-some of the pictures coming out of there just make me drool. I think they've contributed 5 or 6 sharealunker fish in just the past 2 weeks. The other thing that gets me drooling are pictures of some of the bass boats those guys own.

Know what your saying about Texans but honestly, where I go down there the people are as friendly as can be and would give you the shirt off their back.
