Default Getting close to the Aurora Tournament

May 13th, Aurora Fishing Tournament is happening... They release 200 tagged fish and 1 of them is worth 25,000 and 1 worth 5,000. The tournament is open to the first 850 people. Adult 22$ Youth 12$ and Seniors 16$. A couple people from here fished it last year and it was a mad house, combat fishing. So if you like peaceful by yourself fishing this is not one to attend.

I fished the tournament last year and had a blast! It is only crowded if you just fish off the dam. It is crowded getting into the parking lots but once your in you can walk a mile or so and almost be alone. We walked to Lone Tree cove and were the only ones back there without a boat. We saw about 3 boats the whole day so it is not really that bad if you don't mind walking a little bit.

My dad caught the 5000 tagged fish last fall. He was not in the tournament or he could have won a little bit of money. I think it was about 500 for catching the fish after the tournament.

No, Quincy (practicaly next door) is, but you can use anything at Aurora. I think they have a 2 Trout limit, if you keep em. Also, if you register early, you save $2.

What is rule on boats in Aurora. Until this year I fished from shore. I have a 15hp gas and a trolling motor.

The regs are electric trolling motors only. If you have a gas powered motor on your boat, the prop has to be setting out of the water and the gas line disconnected.
