Default Gary Loomis...G. Loomis

Well since Gary sold G. Loomis to Shimano he is now working with Temple Fork on a new rod series for them. I just checked these rods out at BPS and they are sweet! Temple fork does have a new swimbait rod in the Gary's Tactical Series Rods that looks great and only $149.00, but BPS doesn't carry it so I couldn't check this rod out.
Model Length Power Line Wt. Lure Wt. (oz.) Pcs. Action MSRP
GTS BBC7116-1
7'11'' MAG H 12-25
1.0 - 6.0 lure weight
1 Fast $149.00
and comes in at 6.3oz in weight!

Here is the link to the new series of rods.

I have not seen all the rods that he did for that series, but I have not been real impressed with what I saw. Heavy, mediocre components, painted blanks... meh.

Gary is the MAN. Just to get that out there, I have massive respect for him. But I think TFO is sorta latching on to his reputation. North Fork Composites is doing OEM only, so it is whatever the customer wants as far as that goes... I don't think that it reflects badly on him.

I would like to build on NFC blanks. I think that would be the best way to evaluate the new rods.

Just my 2.

I saw his new offerings last year at ISE, and the vendor gave me a nasty look when I was explaining to a friend where it could have been better. NFC is his company and his blanks, TFO is making their own blanks for this series and latching on to his name. No doubt, they may be a good rod for the price. I have been looking at a NFC HM blank.....damn things are nearly as expensive as the Phenix K2 blanks, over 2 bills just for the blank.
