Default Line discussion (again)

So I pretty much fish all braided line these days except for rare panfish/mnt trout outings. If the water isn't fairly clear...I tie lures directly to braid...and if its clear I use a flouro leader uni to uni knot. However...I'm getting tired of leader failure during hookset...doesn't happen often...but enough to piss me off. So I'm thinking of using strictly mono when using leaders to add a little give/stretch on the hookset...also would have better knot selection on lure end. Might add that this problem usually occurs while fishing plastics and jigs...the kind of baits that you have time to reel down and set the hook. What are you guys throwing? Same problems?

15-17-20lb fluoro or 50-65lb braid for jigs. Never a leader. Set the hook everytime like I mean it.

I only fish braid for frogs and jigging spoons. I use mono only for top waters (buzzbaits, walking baits, poppers, ect.). Everything else gets fluoro. I can't stand tying leaders it's just another knot to fail. Just my 2 cents.

I tried braid all season last year, and I'm looking to switch back for flouro at all times.

I as well had several knot failures at hook set using a uni to uni - enough to drive a man insane!

Also getting sick of tying leaders in general. Overall not worth the low diameter for added strength.

Visiability is an issue, not to mention everything sticks to it! Including ice when walleye fishing in the late fall.
