Default Northern Pike in Cherry Creek Res

In 1968 I saw two northern pike (about 20inches) caught at Cherry Creek Res. Just curious has anyone caught any northern pike since? What little population there has probably been fished out. And yes I know 1968 is ancient history.

Used to be a bunch of them in there circa early 70's. If you research the Rocky Mnt. News outdoor writer named Bob Saile, I believe he wrote about the state record of @ 30+ lbs being caught from there. Of course, that record weight has long been surpassed.
Got a few "hammer handles" myself back in the day..... way back in the day.... late 60's....early 70's.

I netted a Tiger fora a guy that was fishing in the marina, he was throwing a Rat-L-Trap. This was probably 1992. The fish was around 40". Haven't heard of a Tiger being caught in a long time. Nor have I heard of any Pike in over 20 years.

if there was muskie or pike i dont think the amount of shad would be in there. they were prob snackin on the dead bodies and bellied up somewhere.

Supposedly 2002 was the last year they put Tigers in Creek, supposedly 4000 seven inchers...

Generally when they stock fish they stock alot of em. So i cant even begin to believe that ALL the pike and ALL the musky they stocked in there JUST DIED. Aint no way no how. There would be evidence of fish kill.
So if they put em in they are still there. Maybe not in huge numbers but they are there.
As far as the shad comment goes, Northerns prefer easier to ambush forage like gills, perch, crappie, baby bass and even baby pike. Shad are an over deep water suspending fish(mostly) shad dont go hanigin around the weeds much.If the do they get smacked.
One thing for sure if there was good pike and musky in there in the 70's then they stocked a bunch of 7" musky well most probably got eaten by the big northerns and skees. Those little musky probably went right into the jaws of awaiting fish as they live in the same areas. And a big pike wont tolerate a little one. Food/breeding competiton thing.
Will CC be a good pike fishery. NO. Has proven that.
Are they there. YES. thats proven too.
Will somebody catch one. MAYBE. also proven.

Wanna catch pike in numbers and have fun doing it without the yahoo jetskiers look elsewhere
