Default Fishing line question?

i've always used stren clear blue 8 or 12 lb test and have been happy. today i missed tons of bass and i think its because i get a crazy twisted loop some where on the line sometimes between the water and the tip of the rod or between the reel and rod tip. it the kind of twist that when streched out its about 12 inches or so of extra slack line. so at hook set i pull the twist out and miss the fish. i like stren but i cant be having that mess so any tips on spooling new line or should i move on and try a new brand? thanks yall'

Change your line like crazy. Mono is cheap, gas is expensive. If you are willing to drive someplace to fish, make sure your line is good.

Those weightless senkos are deadly, but I think using a light weight braid is the way to go. Powerpro is my current fav.

I also mash down the barb on the hook and make sure they're sharp and never rush to set the hook.

If you are using a spinning rod, that line twist could be caused by how it was spooled on there in the beginning. I still have total confidence in stren, probably where you picked it up years ago idk? It is my opinion that mono is the best choice for fishing a senko, after many other trials. That telltale line rip you see is a necessity. As for how to put it on, i like to leave the spool flat and start reeling a little. I then lift up and down, if it twists, then flip the spool over. thats my trick ive been using for years! The only other thing I can suggest is try 10 lb clear mono, u can still see it but the fish dont as much. Oh, and buzz me tomorrow!

Fuoro? Hmmm what is that?

Blue sucks man, clear or green in Colorado IMO. Also baitcasters help with line twists

So, you try to fall off of a quad bike into a pond while being chased by a goose and selling snake oil?

You really should consider using a braided superline....and powerpro is a good one, so is sufix832, spiderwire stealth (I like the camo). I like 15- 20lb test (same diam as 4-6lb mono). The only reason for the mono with a senko is you don't want to spook the fish. To solve this issue I ALWAYS use a fluorocarbon leader (about 14-17lb test and 6ft long). The Fluoro really helps the bait fall straight because Fluoro sinks. I use a Uni to Uni knot (or double uni) to attach the two lines. It is very easy to tie and here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiO2VvXKkZY. This will all help with the line twist and the braid and fluoro are very low/no stretch so you will not miss another hook set........Hope you try it.....it will work!!!!!!!!!!
