Default Leader question

Finally getting back into fishing after taking a hiatus and I would like to use braid on most my setups. Do you match the leader diameter to the diameter of the braid? Do you ever use a larger diameter leader? Also any favorite knots? I was planning on using an albright special.

Thanks!

I use larger diameter leaders on my braid with no problems. I also use the Albright special, never had one fail on me, although a uni to uni knot is hard to beat too.

A tip for you..One thing I like to do for using braid is using a mono of a similar or larger size as backing. You can sometimes split the spool, so to speak, and get more mileage out of expensive line. I attach the two lines together with a double grinner knot. One thing you need to be careful of is the braid cutting through the mono. I sometimes use a (mono backing > braid > leader) setup, but ALWAYS put the backing on there to save dough. It works great as long as you tie a decent knot and cut the tag ends down tight.

A lot of people use a double hitch to increase the diameter of their braid to match the fluoro or mono leader. I never have and have had no issues.
