Default Historical Colorado Fishing License Sales?

does anyone know if the per year Fishing License sales are trending down, or up, or flat?

I have a buddy who says they are down a lot historically (downward trend), but that the people who are fishing, are more hardcore fisherman. I have not seen any data on this, and can not find any on the web.

Anybody have links to data?

thanks
M

I don't have any date either; however, I would be surprised to hear the numbers are down in a way. Populations are growing, not declining. I would think that puts the odds at more people fishing. I guess you could look at opposing factors as well. For example, people don't often fish for food as they once did. A lot of the youth find entertainment by doing indoor activities these days, too. I would love to see some data on this subject for sure.

Try this link, it is up to date through 2011:

http://faims.fws.gov/reports/rwservl...0020&program=7

Grant program should be "9500"

You can also then look at the various years you want to compare.

I think you have a higher percentage of people fishing without a liscense today than what used to be.

I can't prove it but thats my gut feel.
