Default Quick baitcaster question

I'm finally looking into a new "higher" quality baitcaster...I know the Curado's perform and have a great reputation...which is probably what I will get. Question is...why do the shimanos have fewer bearings than other reels of similar price? The curados have 5+1 while the revo sx is 10 bucks more and has 10 + 1 bearings. What gives?

# of bearings doesn't always tell the whole tale. Quality of bearings and their placement is the key...

Right with a baitcaster
Right with a spinning reel
Right with a spincaster
Right with a fly rod
Left with a cane pole

Totally agree. Take spinning reels, pflueger president vs shimano stradic. Easy choice for those that have handled both. If you like round reels and $300 is not too much, consider a used calcutta DC. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, you will understand later.

Good info...I throw righty and reel lefty on everything...so some brands are limited. Pfleuger doesn't even make left hand retrieves for baitcasters. Dbm you like lews huh? May check it out...right now its a revo sx or a curado...would like more options if anyone has first hand info on other 150 to 175ish reels.

If a reel has 37 bearings and costs $50, it is made out of Rice Crispies. Period.

Im going to try one out, everything im reading is positive, people are claiming they like them more than the ones you mentioned, which i own, i liked the revo s cause the plastic sides dont get as cold as the metal ones, still use a stx revo no complants, but my sx i havenot had much luck with, so it sits, got a big curado geared 5.0 that i have on my swimbait rod which works good also, people are claiming the best casting reel for the money hands down.
