Default Aurora Reservoir Rescue

9News is reporting on Facebook that 6 people have been rescued from Aurora Reservoir and more people are believed to be in the water. Hope folks are OK and I hope those rescue relates to people in boats that have to be towed back to the ramp.

People dont look at hourly forecasts prior to going out knowing which direction the wind is going to be coming from and at what mph, specifically when it goes from SW at 5 to SW at 35...I can attest the 9 news hourly is pretty darned accurate when it comes to aurora for the day including direction changes and speed changes...so they dont know where it is going to be coming from and at which speed to know what side of the lake they should be on in small or underpowered crafts...

Hopefully they all ok...

Yeah...I was down in the Springs and the wind really whipped up about 6 o'clock. Only lasted about 30 minutes ...but it was howling. Gotta keep an eye on the weather at all times...Hope no one was hurt.

The biggest problem I see is people getting out on the lake in boats that just aren't seaworthy.

Get a boat with flotation-it can never sink. The worse that can happen is you get wet and lose all your stuff. But your alive.

A guy capsized in a canow on Skaguay last week and drowned-no PFD.
