Default Silent lipless ?s

Need to buy some silent lipless. Anybody have any reccomendations. Im not wanting to spend over $10/lure as I tend to lose these quite frequently. Ive tried the new rippin raps in silent and they are more like one knockers. Great lure, need different approach.

Thanks

Ever tried glueing the rattles in a Rat-L-Trap? I am pretty sure that is where the idea started anyway. It works fine, is not hard, and is cheap.

That's what i'd try, I've never used the silent version but like the regular ones a lot.

I thought about that, but was hoping to try some new baits. If it aint broke, dont fix mentality. Ill probably end up doing that if there really isnt an option.

Instead of cutting/drilling up a nice Made in USA ratltrap, you can also hit Wally World and get some Cordell Super Spots for $2. They're a productive lure in their own right and you won't be losing much if you mess up while trying to dial in the best way to keep the action while nixing the rattle(s).

I would think a well placed hole patched with a suspendot or marine epoxy would do the trick too as a permanent alternative to gluing the rattles.

I am a Red Eye Shad fan and there Silent version has convinced some Bass that were heavily pressured this spring to eat when no other trap would.

too many of the Redeyes roll over and require significant tuning for me to love them, but they do work. I have heard good things about the silents from various people at BPS.

explain to me why you'd need a silent lipless...seems like most of what a lipless has going for it is its noise (I don't like their action too much, although cotton cordell super spots have okay action)...of course, I'm sure you have a good reason for it...what are you fishing with for them and what are the prey/conditions? Please enlighten my ignorance on this topic as I'm quite curious.

fish get conditioned to a noise or an appearance...in this case, it's noise. it's just like using a jig with or without rattles. clear water, i usually go no rattles. the vibration is plenty on the lipless for the fish to feel it, plus the hooks rattle around a tad. listen to this video. you can hear the difference even if it's for a lipped crank.
