Default Bad Rod Luck..... Is it contagious?

It seems that this year has been extremely brutal on my gear. Yesterday, add another broken rod to the tally. Anyone else having this kind of bad luck with their gear this year?

For you guys into high end gear.....those Kistler Z-bones are tough as nails, I've seen pics from their shop and they bed those NFC blanks farther than you can bend them on fish, if they don't break, then they build rods out of them. They do sell Zbone blanks, or you can order NFC blanks, the new Gary Loomis company. NFC is having their own line of rods built on their blanks, Edge Rods, they go for a pretty penny though and are assembled by Kistler.

Here's my tally of broken rods so far........

6'6" st Croix legend tournament

7'11" shimano crucial split grip flipping rod

7'5" g loomis 894 mossyback

6'6" shimano compre spinning rod

7'2" shimano crucial dropshot spinning rod

Talk about bad luck. All this season, all but one actually fishing.

The mossyback broke yesterday one the hook set after landing six fish prior to the breakage. I sure hope this does not continue as I am not made of infinite wealth. I was quite composed after the breakage. Usually I throw a fit and scream and yell. This time I just took the reel off and put the rod back in the rod box. Anger management classes do help in these situations

I think the funniest thing off all in this last episode(as his friend i am entitled to laugh "at" him). This rod is desighned for pulling 'ol Mossyback out of heavy cover. I had the opportunity to use it at Q 2 years back to, punch weeds at Q. What a stick!

Oscar breaks it on a 14" laker in 80' of water. My jaw just kinda dropped when he set the hook. Once i saw the fish I started taking pics. Too much.

You just might wanna put your good rods in a fireproof guncase and save them till next year.

Those rods are worthless anyway! Get a Megabass Slant Bridge! Truck resistance!

When your day starts out like this. We are often left asking ourselves, what next?

The knee slapper

Things did get worse! So terrible to see, yet another mountain fire. My heart goes out to those firefighters and the people who have lost their homes. This has been the worst fire season I can remember.

I had a feeling that the pics would soon show up!

I'm not clumsy like a few people I know. However, like someone else I know "I buy gear to fish with, not look at in the garage." that will remain to be my strategy as well.

Life is too short not to take advantage of laughing at your own experiences. That rod breaking on the hookset had Ito speechless.

That particular rod has caught its share of fish. I'll be sending it back to its maker. Hopefully, the replacement will catch even half as many fish.

For the record, I know of no rod that is capable of withstanding the wheels of a big rig 18 wheeler!
