Default Twin lakes camping?

Never been camping up that way. Taking my pop-up camper that I just bought. I see from the map that there is a lot of forest up there int hat area....but not sure if it's good for this type of camping or not. Anyone familiar with good camping areas up that way? I would like to avoid the pay sites and be able to get away from people a bit.

Definitely gonna get rained on, but it's better than 100 degree heat! The high on saturday is 65 up there

if you take the road up to the forebay go to the right around the lake and camp below the dam. the forebay fishes better for someone up there for the first time, also float tubes are great there. fly to use pistol pete

I know you used to be able to camp just above Clear Creek reservoir for free...and there is also dispersed camping all along Clear Creek Rd to the ghost town of Winfield...We've also camped above Twin Lakes along 82...quite a bit of dispersed camping next to the river.

Thanks guys. I've fished twin before...and will have a boat. Not worried about the fishing part as I usually do fairly well. Just never camped there.

I thought about the CC option as I have camped exactly where you said, hobie, a few years ago. It's a nice camping area and probably only 20 minutes from twin. Could end up doing that but i was wondering if there was anything closer to twin.

I'm very excited about the weather forecast as I am SICK of these 100 degree temps haha.

Kyle if you cross the river at granet and go left on the narrow dirt road there is a wide spot where you can camp only about 2 miles from twin. you can also go on the road behind the granet store and torn left near the power lines and go to the forrest service gate, you can camp anywhere after the gate. there is also a way to get into the nat. forrest south of the lake but i don't remember what road to take

The great advice here hooked me up big time! Thanks dudes. Here is a report.

Road up to camping spot. Spot was super awesome. In mountains, but somehow had full cell service.

It was directly on the "colorado trail" for hiking, so we met plenty of characters hiking through. Most were hiking all the way to durango. They all said it was a 3 week trip. Interesting.

New camper was the wickeds.

French press coffee was the wickeds.

Arrowhead shards.

Chicken!

Twin

Eddyline on the way out.

I took a couple panoramic pics that are highly worth your time to click.
