Default carry on tackle box?

Has anybody brought a tackle box in their carry on through airport security? I am planning on bringing some cranks, spinner baits, jigs, and texas rig worms. Think that would be an issue? TSA isn't very helpful in answering this. But then again TSA isn't usually known to be helpful...

Pretty certain that a tackle box would have to be a checked baggage item. I had to put some crankbaits in my checked baggage a few years ago as they were not allowed in my carry on baggage unless I removed and threw away the hooks.

Yep, the hooks are a security threat.

Apparently TSA thinks so.

I was afraid of that, thanks for the input. Everybody knows that hooks are lethal weapons... Everybody please practice hook safety in the field so we can avoid more of the tragic deaths we hear about so often.

I've carried on many times with my fly fishing streamer box. It's not that much different.

I usually pack Mine into another bag / cooler that I check. Make sure to mark something like "TSA.. fishing tackle, DO NOT TURN OVER" Never had a problem.

What airline, might I ask?

I carry my lures on the plane. Never had a problem. Last time was April 1st, 2012 when I went to Cabo.

Now when I came back the Mexicans wouldnt let me carry them on. Had to check 'em.

I am going on Delta to Minneapolis. I am trying to avoid checking it so as not to pay $50.

Did you have full size cranks/spinners? I would imagine the guys in MN wont give me too much guff, but who knows here...

I had my fish hook hat clip confiscated last time I flew. TSA warden asked me for my address, I asked WTF for. He told me so he could mail it back to me at home... ...I told him to forget it that I worked for the company that makes them, then told him to take it home himself and give it to his lil kids to play with!!!
