Default How do you organize YOUR tackle?

For the most part, I carry around a BPS backpack with 4-5 trays for my main tackle. I have various extra stuff in my garage, but it's a mess. Would love to get a little tackle bench/work station going on eventually. Care to share your methods? I'm sure there are some legit setups from some of you guys!

Crankbait tray

Jerkbait tray

Frog/topwaters

Swimbaits

Terminal/random hardware

Finesse/trailer/plastics binder

All of that packs into this bag...

Although I must admit, on longer hikes and walks, that is more gear than I care to carry, and will just bring like 1 tray in a camel pack bag.

I do the same sort of thing as you. Until it comes to laker stuff. Then I have box after box and bag after bag that I cart around.

And I end up using three or four baits all year.

I've got a similar setup. I have a backpack that I store my bigger trays and tools in and then a smaller man purse to carry around a few lures when I don't want to deal with the backpack.

I do the same thing with my hardbaits but when it comes to soft plastics I carry at least 20 bags in my tackle bag. I use those Hefty zip lock freezer bags cause they don't let the baits spill out like alot of the bags they come in. I do alot of mixing in those bags-different brands, colors, size, etc but sorted out by type-tubes, worms, finesse worms, grubs, twin tailed grubs, senkos, etc.

Never have found one tackle bag that can hold all my stuff-and if I did I couldn't lift it!!!!

I sort all my crap in 2 layered plano boxes which are labeled according to what kind of species that im attempting to target. So for example....if im gonna go fish someplace like willies, ill take 3 boxes specifically with trout lures, laker lures and pike lures so i can just grab and go and throw in my backpack. I just add/replace accordingly as i lose lures/wear them out.... Either from the tackle store or the 3 huge shelved tackle boxes i got in my basement where i sort out all my tackle depending on what it is. It Saves me time and space so im not sorting out crap right before i leave, which is usually at 4 in the morning. Or sometimes i just put a small tackle box together and leave it in the car or back of my passenger seat in my semi for if i take a lunch where theres a fishing opportunity or am getting off work early.

Good stuff guys - I think eventually, I'll just have a tray organizer in the garage, and just bring minimal stuff specific to the lake/species I go after. But then you have a lot of moving stuff around here and there.

@ Kirby - I have no where near enough room for my soft plastics, I throw like 5 of my favorites in each bag in that little binder. But have a huge pile of them in the garage.

The ultimate goal would be quit trekking so much and buy a boat already!
