Default Viper at Bonny res

We went to Bonny Res yesterday, troll the hole day and my son caught our first viper. What an experience. He all exited and me trying to get the other two rods out of the way fell over the seat and busted my shin. We had grate fun. I talked to and older couple they caught 20 viper. I was just wondering what we did wrong. How deep is the lure supposed to run our was running very shallow I could actually see them running behind the boat on top of the water. How do you get them to run deeper.

If you want the lure to go deeper SLOW the boat down.

I believe it is "WIPER", the hybrid between a white bass & striper. I don't think we have VIPER here in Colorado.

Try fishing mussels or crayfish tail on the bottom.

That is what I normally use for WIPERS.
