Default Northern Pike

Hey guys, been reading your reports for a while and decided to get involved. I was wondering if anyone knows where some good pike fishing around the metro area might be? I have been to the arsenal, but that is limited so I was hoping to find another lake around town. I heard that the Creek had some a while back, but do not know. Any help would be appreciated.

due to anti-pike management practices, you will have difficulty finding sustained populations right in the town of denver. However, lakes within a few hours that have them in good size and numbers are cheeseman, williams fork, and stagecoach. Quail Lake and Harriman have pike, but in fairly small numbers I have heard. I don't know of any others.

Welcome smells. Wish I could help you. I agree, Williams fork is probably your best bet.

Good luck, slf -- sorry I can't help you with the Pike as I have not caught many in Colorado. At Box Butte Reservoir in Nebraska, however, they are plentiful.

Your nickname reminds me of that phrase I've seen as a slogan and bumper sticker for clam restaurants on the east coast, "If it smells like fish, eat it!" Nice!

williams Fork is the closest really good fishery for pike around denver. Cheeseman is good for them but denver water is being difficult as usual and keeps delaying the reopening due to "still standing burned snags" (silly). In most places you need to practice selective harvest or catch and release for pike if you want them to stay.

spinney is good for pike though most are smaller. 11 mile has good pike fishing too but it can be slow

Haven't been there for a while, but Sterns, a little west of Broomfield used to have a good population, but hard to catch.
