being someone who's literally been to probably 300+ shows big and small.... you kinda learn to appreciate music, especially when you are in a crowd of likeminded people who get it.

for example.. this summer, when I went to the "psycho las vegas" festival, it was a blast because for 4 days I was immersed in a few genres of music, with a hundred bands that played just about 24 hours a day in 3 venues. i paid 500 bucks for my girlfriend and I.. and it was worth every fucking penny. what I loved about it was not just the music... it was the fact that members of big name and underground bands were literally part of the crowd. people like phil anselmo, pepper keenan, matt pike... all were in the audience watching bands or in the casino bar pounding beers/smoking bowls with people. my girlfriend got to meet alice cooper's bassist who was drunk, walking around and thanking people for checking out their set. plus I met and chilled with people from all over the world who flew into the US for this festival. I'm already anxiously awaiting for them to announce dates for PLV17 so I can get my room.
The reason I try to go to every Tool show - there is usually a total sense of collective "awesome-ness" among nearly everyone. I haven't found that at really any other show I've been too. It spreads across all generations and backgrounds and is awesome.... plus the visuals with the music aint half bad Maybe it state of mind For band that doesnt tour all that often and who knows how much longer till they throw in the towel, you never know if this will be the last....

Meh! That's so 90s. And that's what I told one of my nephews over 10 years ago... Good music is timeless, I guess.

Well don't bitch about how valuable your time is and how your raised price wasn't worth the trouble of the transaction, ya filthy scalper.

Yes Dave, I like some metal, it was my first love in music. I will admit that I do not listen to much anymore, but I won't miss a Tool show if I can help it, even if the sound is horrible in the can. Their light show is pretty much worth the price alone.

For anyone interested, there is a website and mobile app called "Cash or Trade" that is a market for face value transactions only. It's much more supported in the jam scene for a variety of reasons, but always worth checking if you're looking for tickets for a sold out show, or want to be a cool buddy and hook up a fellow fan with a ticket you cannot use.

Oyey is def an elitist.

Na, really? Thats cool man, long before that was Rhino or being developed. What was up with the little house right next door - I always wondered, did someone REALLY live there? I still drive in that area and smell the sweet and Vics.

I listen to more music from the 90's and early 2000's than anything current.

I don't know if it's nostalgia or the music was that much better.

*start debate*
