Pike Hunter,

I hope you know any boat you own will be "a hole in the water that you throw money into". It is going cost money to change the shack or clubhouse into a boat, to fix that old boat, or buy and equip the another one. Don't get me wrong, boats are great, a must have way of life, however IMO they all eat... money. Once you get over that fact you are set to be broke forever, like the me.

Ive been looking at boats for some time now....and its was tough to decide on what exactly to get. i was looking for something that would be big enough to carry at least 3 people and be stable enough to handle rougher water on the lakes and reservoirs of colorado. a deep v hull with console steering, lots of storage space and at least 16 feet long was the basic requirement. I looked at both new and used, and noticed quite a bit of difference in each manufacturer and what they had to offer. its kind of like cars, you get what you pay for. i also noticed its pretty hard to sell a used boat around here, so i considered that too incase i ever wanted to get rid if it. i saw a few used ones for around 5000.00-7000.00, but nothing that really struck me as a really good deal. I looked at some starcrafts, trackers, and lowes...but finally came to the conclusion i would keep saving my money and buy a lund or alumacraft, as these looked like they had the exact design i was looking for, not to mention resale value and quality. Tomcat helped me out quite a bit, and helped steer me to this decision. ill spend more (its like taking on a car payment almost) but i think it will be worth it in the long run and ill get exactly what im looking for, instead of something i wont be happy with and cant get rid of.

in the end it all depends on what you plan on using it for and how much you can afford i guess...

My kid tried putting a lure on his remote controlled boat and trolling with it.

It would have been real cool if he caught something..........Can you imagine a bass hitting it and dragging it backwards all over the pond?

Always thought of that as a kid, but never got to it. It would be way cool to do that though (with a smaller fish).
