Cherokee > Grand Cherokee
Grand Cherokees for whatever reason have way more problems.

My 2 cents is the grand's always have issues as - ePIC- said. I have owned 3 regular cherokee's and never had a real problem. They also havve a better turning ratious, better 4x4 system,& better MPG. --- the one I drive now is about 20 MPG
--- just two cents

i just got rid of a 2002 jeep grand cherokee, because its a piece of shit. I will never own another jeep again . The straight6 model and the V8 model each get 12-16 mpg ive owned each. Now ive got a newer gmc sierra with 16-21 mpg. i had atleast 5gs in repairs in that jeep in the 3 years i owned it. they look cool but they have many problems and they are small. The newer ones may be better as far as reliability. just my experience with them.

The straight six is pretty much bullet proof. But, if you're thinking about the Grand...Personally, I'd check out some 4 Runners or Pathfinders..

I was gonna say this... Grand Cherokees look better, but the Cherokee is by far more reliable. The Cherokee is one of the best vehicles ever built. Perhaps the best all around SUV ever made in America... especially the last three years it was made.

Not all jeeps have issues, from what I know is grand cherokees have alot of issues... I've also heard that the patriots have some issues to but dont know anyone besides James that owns one so I dont know if this is true or not... Havent heard James complain about it. But from people I know that own Grand Cherokees I've heard issues from the front brakes to blown engines to electrical. I own a 2001 Cherokee Limited and love it, besides routine maintenance I've never had to do anything to it and I am rough on vehicles.

The V8 is the motor that has had the most problems. The in line 6 is one of the best, most reliable enguines ever built.
