Default Mercury 4 stroke 9.9 motor need advice on selling.(sold $1300.00 )

i have a 2002 9.9 mercury 4 stroke. it has just under 30 hours on it. Starts great first pull (pull start only) when warm or two or three when cold. Sounds great when running, no rough or sputtering when running. prop in new shape, no dings or chips out of it.

Ok my question is how much is it worth. I looked it up on NADA and it say $1973.00 for a price. That just sounds high to me. Any one know what it should sell for
Thanks any help would be great......

i think those older ones were yamahas, should be great little motor with low hours, probably $15-1600 but start high you can allways come down. best time of year to sale is comeing soon as this crappy white stuff goes away

You are looking at the "Suggested List Price." That's the price when it was new. I see people do that a lot on Craigslist. BTW, Cabelas sells them new for $2,200, free shipping, so the $1,973 seems reasonable for the price brand new back in 2002. The "Average Retail" price is the depreciated price for a sale today. Disclaimer: I am not in the market for a trolling motor. Personally, I would start a couple of hundreds above the "average retail" price and go from there. When I buy stuff used, I don't care to deal with people who are way above what the value should be. I just look for the stuff that are closer to what I am looking for. Why go through the headache? GL, man.

A 2002 Merc is a rebranded Tohatsu - as is a Nissan from that time. I'm pretty sure Merc is making their own engines now.

If one shops, they can get a brand new Tohatsu for under $1900.

It's worth what someone will pay for it, so take this with a grain of salt. If I were selling, I'd ask $1400 and be willing to take $1200.

Your right this is a yamaha make with merc name on it.

Ok I will ask $1400.00 and put Or Best Offer. Its going to be a great motor for someone. I just dont have use for it, on a 17' v bow boat. This motor will not even put the boat on pad going across the lake. Going to put a 30 hp on the boat, this should get the job done.

Thanks to all that replyed, this really did help help me out..

Short shaft or long shaft? Tiller? DBM's price gets a "fins up!"
