Default Ft. Carson Kids Fishing Day

Posting this for Tom...

Hey all,

We are in need of 45-50 boaters for the annual Ft. Carson Kids Fishing Day at Pueblo on June 16. We have had many bass club and walleye club members as well as some unaffiliated boaters contribute their efforts to make the success it has become.

We're having another meeting with the Ft. Carson folks on May 23 to firm up the planning.

Mark your calendars! June 16, 2012

Bass clubs and Walleye Association please post this on your web sites and spread the word -

The 7th annual Ft. Carson Kids Fishing Day is June 16, 2012. In years past we took about 30-40 kids of deployed Ft. Carson military personnel out for a half day of fishing at Pueblo Reservoir - this year we're looking at 80 kids so we'll be looking for about 45 or more boaters. We need boaters!

This has become a big deal for both the families and our boating partners and it's a day everyone looks forward to every year.

I am asking for boaters to volunteer, whether it be from our state's bass clubs or the walleye association or other boating volunteers. Hopes Float will participate with their pontoon boat as they have in the past. Anyone who would like to offer their services is welcome and encouraged to participate.

This is a great way to say thank you to the men and women and families for the service they give to us and our great country and allow us to have the freedoms we enjoy. The kids truly love it. Some of the photos that have been taken have been immediately emailed or sent electronically to the deployed parents serving throughout the world. The response has been great.

Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is underwriting a large portion of this, including t-shirts for all attendees. Wounded warriors will be in attendance. Famous Dave's BBQ will provide the catered lunch. Sam's Club will supply breakfast foods and drinks for the boaters. Wounded Warriors will attend. Ribbons and medallions as well as trophies for largest, smallest, oddest catch, etc. will be awarded. Rods and reels and bags of supplies (tackle, sunscreen, caps, widgets and gizmos), night-crawlers, will be given to each child. If you are a company and would like for your company to help out, we gladly welcome anything (donations, etc.) you might afford to offset our expenses.

Boaters will need to arrive early for boat inspections - starting at 6 am. Fishing will be from about 8 am to noon. This will be fun and very rewarding. Let's again help these kids and families have a memorable day. .

Send me a note - call me - commit a little time.

Thanks,

Tom Grace

So far I have nine boaters from the Denver Bassmasters, a couple commitments from Centennial and a few from Pikes Peak and hopefully a handful from Southwest (Durango). Many of the walleye guys will be on hand as usual. This is a fun "all species" fishing day - anything goes.
